Beginning with Prayer

REFLECTON QUESTIONS

1. Think about a current challenge, decision, or area where you want to see growth or “rebuilding” in your life. What does it look like for you to begin with prayer instead of jumping straight to action—and what would need to change this week for that to happen?

2. When you pray, are you more likely to focus on your problems or on who God is? What specific aspect of God’s character (His faithfulness, sovereignty, love, etc.) do you need to intentionally trust right now—and how can you build that into your prayers this week?

3. Nehemiah confesses both his own sin and the sins of his people. What is one area of personal sin you need to honestly bring before God? Is there a way you’ve seen brokenness in the church or community that you should also be bringing to God in prayer?

4. Nehemiah doesn’t stop at prayer—he responds with action, but in dependence on God. What is one step of obedience or courage you sense God calling you to take right now? How can you make sure that step is rooted in prayer and dependence on God rather than self-reliance?
