Forgiveness and Joy

SERMON REFLECITON QUESTIONS:

1. David describes unconfessed sin as a draining, heavy burden. Where do you personally notice the “weight” of unconfessed sin in your life—emotionally, spiritually, or even physically? What habits or distractions are you most tempted to use to avoid dealing honestly with your sin?

2. Discuss the importance of confessing to God and to another believer. Is there a trusted brother or sister in your life who can be “the presence of God” for you in confession, as Bonhoeffer describes? What would it look like to take one practical step toward greater openness this week?

3. The Bible teaches that when we uncover our sin, God covers it. Where do you struggle to truly believe that your sin is covered in Christ? How can you preach the gospel to your own heart so that you learn to rest rather than strive?

4. David moves from hiding from God to hiding in God. In what area of your life do you need to intentionally move toward God instead of away from Him? What practices (prayer, community, Scripture) help you grow in joy and live out the reality of being restored?
