Confession and Repentance
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
1. David begins his confession by appealing to God’s steadfast love and abundant mercy. When you sin, what is your instinctive response—hiding, self-condemnation, minimizing, or running to God? How can you reflect on truths about God’s character to help you come to Him honestly and confidently for mercy?
2. David openly acknowledges both his specific sins and his deeper sinful is it often difficult for us to fully own our sin without blaming, minimizing, or comparing ourselves to others? What might honest confession look like in your life right now?
3. David doesn’t only ask for forgiveness; he asks God to create a clean heart and restore his joy. In what ways can we sometimes settle for relief from guilt rather than true transformation? How can we as followers of Jesus make this request with even more confidence than David?
4. David says that after experiencing God’s mercy he will teach others, praise God, and worship Him truly. How should experiencing God’s grace shape the way we worship, speak about God, and live before others this week?
