First Youth

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."  1Timothy 4:12 (ESV)

Growing up in an urban environment provides both amazing opportunities and challenges for teens and pre-teens. The Youth Ministry at FirstSF is committed to partnering with families to develop youth (in 6th through 12th grades) that are fully committed to the cause of Christ, both now and into their adult years.

The ministry is led by a Leadership Team with a passion to see youth take their faith seriously and seek to follow Jesus now and into the future. The ministry is made stronger through the contributions of over 10 adults who lead Sunday Morning Classes, monthly Fun Fridays, Discipleship Groups, Workshops, and act as chaperones/drivers for youth outings and events.

sunday mornings

Sunday Morning Classes - 9:15am

Relevant topics and subject matter are approached through a solid understanding of Scripture and include applications of Biblical principals in the context of modern youth. High School and Junior High students meet in separate rooms in classes which challenge them to grow in discipleship with the goal of helping students develop a greater understanding of their faith, how to explain/defend it and how it makes a difference in their lives.

We are taking a break for the summer from June - July 2. We will resume on July 9.

Sunday Morning Service - 10:30am

Students actively participate by serving in different ministry opportunities and are encouraged to take notes during the sermon.

Fun Fridays

We are taking a break for the summer from June - July 2. We will resume on July 9.

On the first Friday of each month students are encouraged to invite friends to gather for fun, fellowship, devotions, and pizza! Fun Fridays are geared toward building relationships among the youth and their friends who do not regularly attend our church. Fun games, challenges, and short Scripture study serve as the foundation for these evenings. These times also serve as leadership development opportunities as youth take initiative to plan and teach games/challenges and lead devotions.  Fun Fridays are the first Friday of the month, from 6:30-9p.m. up in the Youth Room.
